Proalpha Acquires Spanish MES Platform Provider Mapex Manufacturing Software Solutions

Integration into Proalpha Business Applications to expand solution portfolio with a leading MES platform for the Digital Shop Floor business unit

Weilerbach, 19 December 2025 – The Proalpha Group, one of the leading providers of ERP and business applications for the midmarket, has acquired the Spanish company Mapex Manufacturing Software Solutions S.L.U. (Mapex). With this transaction, Proalpha is enhancing its portfolio with an AI-powered Manufacturing Execution System (MES), notable for its highly flexible, modular design. It creates an integrated real-time data foundation across the entire factory, enabling sustained improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and product quality. The Mapex product portfolio will be deeply integrated into Proalpha’s Digital Shop Floor and ERP solutions. At the same time, it will continue to be available as a standalone offering optimized for use with third-party systems. The closing of the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Founded in 1999, Mapex employs roughly 100 people and supports more than 50,000 users worldwide. Headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, the company is a leading provider of a modular, AI-powered, and highly scalable MES solution that simplifies complex manufacturing processes. Today, 500 factories across the automotive, aerospace, plastics, packaging, metal processing, and food & beverage industries rely on Mapex’s innovative technologies. Notable customers include MaierSMR (Motherson) and Camprofrío (Sigma Foods), among others.

The Mapex MES platform is a modular and scalable end-to-end system that enables real-time control of core functions including production control, manufacturing execution, quality management, full traceability, and computerized maintenance management (CMMS).  At its core are capabilities like automated real-time data collection from machines and workstations, enabling the calculation of essential KPIs such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and operational real costs (including materials and energy consumptions, labor, defective products).

This foundation is enhanced by the AI assistant "Maik", which acts as a Smart Factory co-pilot and business analyst, identifying issues instantly, interpreting data, and providing actionable recommendations to improve productivity. "Maik" also serves as a Quality & Safety Checker, leveraging image recognition to monitor label consistency and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In addition, "Maik" functions as a Smart Maintenance Assistant Bot, simplifying access to maintenance information and documentation. The entire system is designed for seamless integration with the corporate ERP environment, ensuring perfect alignment between business leadership and shop floor operations while accelerating digital transformation.

A Win-Win for Expanding into New Markets

"With its AI-powered MES platform designed not only for discrete manufacturing but also for other key industries such as food & beverage and chemicals, Mapex fits perfectly with our quality and energy management solutions in the Digital Shop Floor business unit," emphasizes Christoph Kull, President of Business Applications at the Proalpha Group.

"With this acquisition, we also gain direct access to the Spanish market, one of the largest economies in the European Union. This allows us to address this promising market sustainably, leveraging our extensive solution portfolio for midmarket value chains."
