  1. How did you embark on your journey to digitalization and what did your first steps look like?

We're trying to digitalize as many processes as possible in the company and to support them with digital solutions. It is our goal to create added value for as many departments and employees as possible using digitalization.
We laid the groundwork by introducing a platform that processes and combines the most important business data. This data basis helps us generate greater added value for our operational performance processes, our partners and, above all, our customers. This platform is the proALPHA ERP solution.

  2. What challenges did you face during the digitalization process?

At first, a digitalization project means much more work before you can exploit its added value. The challenge here is to convince every department and person involved of the benefits brought about by the project. Its successful implementation leads to considerable time savings, unlocking capacities for projects that have been postponed or even all new projects. This argument usually wins over everybody.

  3. What measures did you take to motivate your employees?

Most of my colleagues see how rapidly the world is digitalizing. They're well aware that missing out on digital innovation will cause PWM to lose their competitive edge. Keeping up with the times is already deeply rooted in the minds of the majority of all employees. If we fail to do so, at some point, there will be another company which is capable of working more quickly, more efficiently, more cost-effectively, and thus more successfully than we are. We're also trying to help our employees understand that digitalization doesn't have the goal to replace their tasks or make them obsolete. It has the goal to support them in their daily work and enable them to take on whole new tasks.

  4. What three ingredients do you deem absolutely necessary to successfully tackle the issue of digitalization?

A piece of courage to change everything you can, the peace of mind to accept whatever you can't change, and a spoonful of wisdom to tell both apart.
