Michael Finkler, member of the board of management at proALPHA, Elected Member of the VDMA Regional Association Board

His goal is to support regional VDMA members in meeting the challenges of digitalization and Industry 4.0.

Weilerbach, 12 June 2017 ─ At the general assembly of the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), members elected the new board for the regions Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland on June 1, 2017. The member companies of the regional association elected Michael Finkler, member of the board of management at proALPHA Business Solutions GmbH, as a member of the board. The new board will represent the regional association until 2021.

As a member of the board of VDMA's biggest regional association, Michael Finkler will focus on digital transformation in mechanical and plant engineering. His objective is to support VDMA member companies on the way towards Industry 4.0. Since November 2016, he has also been working towards this goal as the deputy chairman of VDMA's trade association for software and digitalization.

"Digital transformation presents major challenges to mechanical engineering companies: new competitors appear, tried-and-true methods are questioned, and processes have to be modified. Digitalization offers numerous opportunities to develop new business models. Networking, mobility, the cloud and artificial intelligence function as enablers, while smart corporate software controls and connects applications," says Michael Finkler.

Integrated ERP systems support mechanical engineering companies in managing their processes by providing powerful tools and reliable information. "Smart products and digital services help our members find their way in the world of digital transformation. By developing new business models and making use of the emerging platform economy, our members can protect their companies against the impacts of disruptions in their market," adds Mr. Finkler.
